Very interesting Jeff thanks for sharing. I go to China regularly for (music) work and was shown counterfeit champagne, vodka, whiskey, cigarettes, prescription drugs (!) and about anything else you can come up. I did actually try some counterfeit vodka and can report it wasn't anything like the Absolut it proported to be, although from outward appearances you couldn't tell the difference.
