Re: Supplied by Heuer or another?

That’s a question that I have in regard to this subject. We know for sure that Heuer supplied watches to some well know brands such as Abercrombie & Fitch and Zodiac to name just two. However, Heuer were not the primary manufacturers of the parts for these watches but like most if not all the other Swiss watch brands of the day, they were supplied with parts from specialist manufacturers and assembled and distributed the finished products to the local and international markets. In some cases Heuer negotiated exclusivity on parts, the Monaco case being the one confirmed by Jack in his book. But did Heuer assemble/supply the so called “poor mans” Monaco like the Diarex and Edox or were these assembled by some other company from parts left over or after the exclusivity with Heuer expired. These came with Valjoux movements some (if not all) were not Heuer signed.

The list so far of watches that look like Heuer watches is a long one but is there any way to confirm how many of these were supplied/assembled by Heuer or had anything to do with Heuer?

One further spanner in the works is this one known as the watchmaker school watch. Features include a Hamilton signed calibre 12 movement, Carrera case engraved 1153 and serial number 3026xx which is within the known range of Heuer Carrera’s, Carrera hands and a dial signed in the name of the school but apart from that, exactly the same as a 1153S Carrera dial.

Food for thought.

Regards
Paul
