Is it just my imagination, or do we see two different types of hands on the Carrera 45 Dato (later model), one version with thinner lume stripes and one version with wider lume stripes?
Might this be attributable to (a) different batches of hands, (b) service hands versus original hands, or (c) weirdness in the photos? I had always noticed that these chronos seem to have thinner lume on the hands (as shown in the top photos), then today I noticed the wider lume (on the two samples on the bottom). Of course, nothing is simple in the world of vintage Heuers, so we also see samples which appear to have one hand with narrow lume and one hand with wider lume (as shown on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway sample, below).
I will admit that I have not studied other Carrera 45 Datos . . . only the later version of the black Carreras. I imagine that the hands used on the Carrera 45 Dato are different from those used on the V72 or V92 Carreras . . . Landeron versus Valjoux.
Any thoughts on these important questions?
Thanks,
Jeff
