Can barely read serial and model number on back of case

I recently obtained a very nice Tag Heuer chronograph on Ebay. The watch is very close to mint condition. However someone in the past has made it hard to make out the model an serial numbers on the back of the case. The numbers are there, but hard to decifer, even with 10X magnification. How would this affect future resale of the watch? Can I find the serial number on the movement? (Val 7750) I have not as of yet opened the back of the case. Any opinions? Thanks.
Why are numbers polished off?
