: John (or other experts):
: Is this same camera from the iPhone 5s incorporated into other
: devices -- iPad Mini or iPod Touch, for example? My wife has the
: iPhone 5s, and I am wondering whether I can have this exact same
: camera in any of these other devices.
: Apple customer said "no" . . .
Jeff,
My understanding is that the camera in the iPhone 5 series of smart phones is unique to those devices. The camera in my new iPad is OK but nowhere near as good and since the device is bigger it is nowhere near as easy to use and much more apt to create nasty reflections in reflective subjects.
Again my understanding is that the camera in the original iPhone 5 is the same camera as in the new series but with some software/firmware enhancements. My son has the newer iPhone 5 (5s) and I can't see much difference.
There are great things and drawbacks to a smartphone camera. I sort of wish there was an ap which would connect my iPhone to my studio strobe system but as far as I know the iPhone works only with continuous lighting. I wish the iPhone was a little bit better in low light...but it is what it is and to me it is a fine camera for normal everyday watch pictures.
Come on Jeff...ditch the blackberry or the flip phone or whatever and join the modern world.
