Mark, you got a point there, no doubt.
About a "top 10" ? .... yes, we should not argue .... we should just enjoy thinking about the "contestants" we have in mind, those that even COULD make it into that top 10.
I, really, would never seriously argue with someone who prefers another kind of car or shape, and i'd never try to convince anybody to like or to see the beauty in the P 1800 .
Talking about the "list" ... yes, surely a hell of a topic ... neverending subject .....
But I usually think we have to differenciate here : There could be a list of what I'd call " Affordable cars for people that have actually worked for the money they pay " .......
or another list I'd call " Top 10 in the Concours in Pebble Beach, or at the Villa d'Este " .... ;-)
Think you will understand what I mean.
The Saab ? ... Nice, but no way seriously near the top ... I agree.
Some BMWs ? Absolutely ! .... The "Pagode" ? Definitely ! , my "heartbreaker" the Dino 246 (now out of reach) ... and those names you've mentioned from Bella Italia, cetainly ....
E_type ? I've driven the early 3.8 with the "Moss-gearbox", (MOSS !) ... a later 4.2 and a 5.3 too. I get your point ... an everlasting question of proportions for stylists and "aesthetes" and fans. The first series was marvelous, the 2+2 far from that ... NM*
Oh, I could carry on and on and on .... but must stop : My blood-pressure!
This subject gets me carried away ..... and would bore too many others.
The V12 Colombo, Mark ?
I'm happy to say : Yes, I have seen a few, closely. I have heard some more ... and I had the great joy of driving one a couple of years ago.
Carrrrrrramba ! :-)
Buona notte,
ciaO
