Hi AJ,
For sure you are right, even if is not aeconomically convenient to make it restore (case polishing, hands repainting and mvmt service would cost more than I paid for it and more than it worth) it has its dignity.
Let's say that today has been the 1st day since a lot of time that I didn't take care to beat the watch somewhere, an incredible sensation of freedom ;-)
