The deal was with Seth at Twery's Coin Dealers & Supplies in Greenacres, Florida. They're seemingly a legitimate company — bonded and insured — and their eBay account has over 7,000 positive feedbacks.
After exchanging a few messages through eBay with Susan, she provided me with Seth's number and I called him on February 25. There were 14 bids on the watch at the time, but Seth and I agreed to a fair price for the watch (not a steal, though I thought it was a good deal). Ten minutes after hanging up, I wired him the full amount and he told me that he'd ship it today (February 26) as his Fedex pick-up had already occurred.
This morning, I e-mailed to request a tracking number. Four hours later, Seth e-mailed:
Hi,
I'm very sorry but we have an issue at this time and will not be able to conclude this transaction. Nothing to do with the price. We will be refunding your money shortly. If the circumstance changes we will let you know. Again, we are sorry for this.
Thanks,
Seth
In subsequent e-mails I tried to learn whether he sold it to someone else or whether the watch would be listed for sale again. Seth decided not to respond.
Really a shame that this happens, but I guess not all sellers and businesses are as honorable as the ones who deal here on OTD.
