Hey Manuel,
That's great to hear your story, I have heard many like it since I have been working this job :) In fact, mine is similar.
You'll be happy to know that Magic as a brand is the biggest it's ever been, and is the most profitable brand for Hasbro, the owners of the company that makes the game.
It's still a great game, and going strong. I used to be more shy about it as well, but not anymore. The world is a different place now, and geeky things like this are more readily accepted. It's a good time to be a geek :)

: Hello Marshall,
: your post reminded me immediately of some very happy hours during
: my life between 10yrs-20yrs. And well, sometimes I still take my
: decks from some drawers and play a game or two with friends from
: the days back then.
: I still remember when I visited the Pro Tour once. I don't know
: anymore which year it exactly was, but the 'Ice-Age' block was
: just lunched.
: Many happy memories.
: Thank you!!!

: P.S.: Usually I hide the fact that I was one of those nerdy guys
: who used to sit in a room playing cards, while the sun was
: shining and all the other rode their bicycles LOL
