Re: If A Watch Could Tell Its Story - here's my contribution

No surprise with the watch I'd like to hear the story of; my father’s Ref. 3006. He has owned it since 1979, and we have shared it since I had it serviced and overhauled in 2009. That said we know most of its story, including how and where it was purchased:

• My father’s employer (Corning Inc.) reach a sales milestone and as a reward his department was given a catalog of Heuer watches to select from and my dad chose the Ref. 3006
• My father and his boss were very active in SCCA at Watkins Glen (Home of the USGP at that time), volunteering in scrutineering and often interacted with Auto World founder Oscar Koveleski, who was a club racer
• The watches were ordered through the Auto World store in Scranton, PA.

Based on what I have learned here at OTD I now know that the Ref. 3006 is lumped into the list of bargain Heuer’s made in the late ‘70s, but the part of the story I don’t know and would love to learn more about is:

• What years were they produced
• How many were made
• What market were they produced for
• Where were they produced
• What catalog did my dad discover the model in (I have only seen it in a screenshot of a German catalog, but I have to assume that wasn’t it)

Many questions, which most likely will never be answered, but I will keep researching and along the way maybe I will learn more.
