I Was Thinking More About the 1960s; No Bashing from Me

I was thinking more about the 1960s than the 1970s, but I will welcome any information that you can provide about the Zodiacs of either period. Would love to see this Zodiac catalog from 1972. Surprised to see that Zodiac was still using V72s, when the Heuers were selling in the $185 to $220 range.

I will stand by the "Poor Man's Heuer" phrase, as we have been using the term to describe the prevailing prices in today's market for vintage chronographs, when the Zodiacs (and Clebars, Dugenas and Aristos) are selling at a huge discount to the Heuers.

I'm not sure why you expect to be bashed . . . I (and most other members of this community) respect people who bring information to this forum and conduct polite discussions. By the way, I have a few Zodiacs, and really enjoy wearing them. A couple of them are shown below.

: Sorry Jeff, your claims of Zodiac at the time are not true. At the
: same time Heuer was begging people to buy a Viceroy for a paltry
: $88 through a cigarette promotion, Zodiac had 15 different
: Chronograph models in their catalogs for the year. That is
: pretty strong for the time (at least before Swiss companies
: started calling 30 or 40 identical looking chronographs that
: have different dials each a separate model). Additionally,
: looking at Heuer's pricing at the time (using materials from
: your site) the upper end chronographs were $185 and $220.
: Zodiac's using the same higher-end movements (72, 72C etc) were
: $175 to $195. So, regardless of any other assumptions, the
: prices were not that different meaning that the whole "Poor
: Man's watch" is really more of a "Poor Choice of
: Description" and not genuinely true. The pricing on a
: comparative Heuer and Zodiac now does nothing to reflect their
: original brand position. So, even though I will be bashed
: because I disagree, what I am saying is in print and not just
: belief.
