To me any argument that rests much of its case on a watch manufacturer authenticating a "vintage" piece is to some degree flawed.
I suspect 5-10 years ago there was much more belief that all the watch brands had experts of their vintage timepieces working within their service departments, hopefully we realize now this is just not true (or at least for most brands). They all like to take the glory of the vintage pieces, but for most of them it is only really for marketing purposes.
I'd much rather trust a balanced view from a balanced collector who researches such things continually which is the value of a strong community of such like minded people.
