Hi Darren, Mark,
Thanks for the replies. I know this is not the usual type of topic for this forum, but I find it interesting. Darren, you mention the "hunting instinct", and I know just what you mean. I can research and obsess about specific models of watch for months, much to the dismay of my wife ;-)
My Grail Watch was a cal. 321 Speedmaster from 1967. I tracked one down about 20 years ago. Due to some unforseen circumstances, I had to sell it about 10 years ago. Of course, since then they've shot up in value. I now have a Carrera reissue (cal. 861) as my daily wearer which is better suited to my wrist, but while this is great watch, lately I've been thinking about a successor to the Speedmaster. I then stumbled upon this site and some other great sites that got me interested in Autavias. They have such classic looks, one of the few chronos that can hold its own next to a Speedmaster. I really gravitate towards the 2446, but I'm also starting to appreciate the 1163 and later models. I have the feeling this could be the beginning of another obsession....
