Each of us will post a photo of a Heuer (or other chronograph) that we blame on a friend. Think about the times your Heuer friends have sent you a dealer link, told you about something going cheap on ebay, or just told you about a watch that was so fantastic that you "just had to buy one" for yourself.
Has your friend ever sent you an e-mail, with a photo of a watch, and you just had to go out and find one for yourself?
Have you ever heard the words, "Trust me on this one."? What about, "If you don't like it, I'll take it"? Have you ever actually not liked the watch you were discussing and sent it to your friend?
Think about the watches that have been popular on this Discussion Forum -- Lemania 5100, Pilot's Autavia (73663), GMTs, Seafarers, Siffert, McQueen, Schrag, Maddox . . . the possibilities are endless.
If you guys like the idea, we can announce it "officially" for October 25th. And, of course, if someone blames you for a watch, then you can write a rebuttal.
Any interest?
Jeff

Ok, guys. Here's a novel idea for our next Scan Day: Blame It on a Friend.
:
: Today's theme was supposted to be "the
: favorite story from the summer relating to
: watch collecting..." Well, my story
: relates to the pick up of the summer in my
: collection. It's an old story but with a
: twist.
: Jeff contacted me one day a couple of months
: back excited about a watch that he saw on
: eBay, not at all atypical, and he was
: wondering if I might be interested in it if
: he got it but decided it wasn't for him. I
: looked over the listing said, "yeah,
: that's a cool watch, I am pretty sure you'll
: love it, but if you decide you aren't
: interested I'd be interested in it up to
: $xxx.xx. So the auction nears it's end, Jeff
: prevails and I get to wait while the watch
: is in transit to Jeff to see if I'm on the
: hook for this watch that Jeff bought.
: Jeff get's the watch, which is a departure for
: him, and ... and... he loves it... Which is
: great... Except, I'm kinda wishing Jeff had
: decided he didn't want it...
: Usually I'm the one people blame for getting
: them interested in a watch they buy! Sheesh!
: So I start trolling eBay in search of the
: identical twin brother of Jeff's watch. It
: takes me a couple of weeks, (closer to a
: month), but finally I find one, win th
: auction (at $120 more than Jeff paid BTW)
: and I get to wait while the watch is in
: transit while I'm on the hook.
: When I get it, no surprises it's exactly as I
: expected it'd be. Nice watch.

:
: This is basically a Sinn 144 Titanium Dual Time
: Chronograph that was produced by Sinn. Size
: is 44mm x 41mm w/o crown (44mm with) by
: 14.25 mm thick. The 25 jewel Valjoux 7750
: movement displayed nicely through the
: sapphire back. Water Resistance 10 bars, 100
: meters or 330 feet. The Katun Corp.
: contracted Sinn for a limited production run
: of these watches which had there logo placed
: on the dial as they where intended for
: purchase by employees. Apparently there were
: only 100 of these watches produced with this
: logo.
: What I didn't expect was this watch would
: monopolize my wrist for such a long time
: after I received her. I've worn other
: watches for a day. Another watch purchase
: for a day when I got it, but the rest of the
: time 24/7 it's been on my wrist.
: So, I don't get to say this often... Someone
: else's interest in a watch made me buy one
: myself! It's all your fault Jeff!!!
: Cheers!
