Re: My First Heuer Watch - Just picked up this Monaco 1533G

Hello,

First things first: Congrats to you for your first Heuer. And a Monaco is quite a start. Usually we see a Viceroy or similar, but a Monaco is a special watch, at least for me.

It's hard to judge a metallic dial Monaco from just one picture. To be sure you need to see it from different angles. The most important thing is, that the metallic finish is even and undamaged. As it comes to Monacos you always have to have a look at the edges where the sealing touches the dial. This area is very critical regarding seal melt, that destroys the print of the dial.

The hands in your watch appear to be relumed. But they are the original ones and no service replacements, which is a plus for me. The edges of the case seem to be a bit round, but I'm not sure from that perspective.

Anyway it's a great watch and worth to keep and wear. The cal. 15 Monacos are special either you love or hate them, there is not much in between. I definitely love them.

Best,
Manuel

: Hi Guys,

: I have been reading these forums for a while, and very rarely
: posting, but after going through the eBay experience on the
: Monaco 1133G a few days ago, and it being yanked last minute
: (totally not cool), I decided to buy another Monaco in the
: market. This is not only my first Monaco, but my first Heuer. I
: have been collecting many vintage Omegas and Breitlings, but now
: I want to start picking up some Heuer's. Figured the Monaco
: should be my first start. Since I am no expert on Heuer watches,
: what is everyone's thought on this Monaco I picked up? Is this
: considered "clean", or "average" or ??? I am
: also curious what people think this is worth. It did not come
: with any box or papers, which I have begun looking for, but
: people seem to be asking quite a fortune for them. In any case,
: love to get some feedback.
