I had the same experience with a WTB I posted.
The scammer took the e-mail address of a known member on Timezone ( if I remember well ) and just changed one letter in that address.
When I asked for references he just gave those from that known and well respected member.
I almost missed that one-letter difference.
Almost.
I also asked him to make pics of the watch with the time set at a certain hour.
That really pissed him off, so very similar to your experience.
They also come up with the most incredible stories, he couldn't provide me a bank account number on his name since he worked for the US government.
And US government personal is not allowed to receive money on their account from people out of the US, and bla bla bla.
I made the guy work for his money and with every thing I asked him to do he got more angry with me. :)
