Hello all,
I want to share with you my latest acquisitions, that are quite similar and still very different. Although I have a massive crush on the Autavia model line, I got a little bit bored by their bulky 70s cases. The snap backs were never really my cup of tea although I tried to get used to them. And the screw backs, well that's a different story. I hope I can contribute about those soon.
But back to topic. I really enjoyed wearing small watches lately. I dont know why, it just happened. Monaco, GMTs and several others are resting in the safe and I bought a Carrera and then another.
Two special ones, at least for me. One for its patina and the other one for its unique design. I hope the joy will last. Here are two quick and dirty shots:
The patina on the 2447S is really getting me. At first I thought the dial was damaged from moisture. But then I read an interesting article from Philippe about RLX vintage and what humidity does with the dial. The first thing that gets damaged is the lume. It turns black and sometimes falls off because of its porous surface. But here it is still intact with a nice creamy color, so the "tropical" effect has to have other reasons. It's a very early non-T flat white Carrera. I have a NOS dial but I think, I will keep it as it is.
The 3147N was a long desired, but it's hard to get a decent. I think I got an honest example now. No safe save queen but still a beauty.
I'd be happy to hear your opinion about the effect on the 2447S dial. It looks similar to Micks 3647S and I have seen it a couple of times on other watches bit in a more even way...
Kind regards,
Manuel
