We started the year 2014 with a fantastic scan event, focusing on the “Best of 2013”. Over the first few days of January 2014, members of our community posted dozens of messages, showing some fantastic watches and sharing some wonderful memories of the year 2013.
So as we bring 2014 to a close, let’s schedule our “Best of 2014” scan event, to be held in the first few days of 2015 -- Saturday, January 3 through Sunday, January 11. You can use these last few days of December to reflect on the year or perhaps wait for that last arrival that will complete your year of collecting.
In 2014, we didn’t have a special anniversary or birthday to celebrate, and we didn’t have a community-wide summit, but it was another fantastic year for vintage Heuers and our community of collectors. We discovered some new models and executions, unearthed a couple of rare prototypes, and added to our knowledge of the brand. We finished out the year watching a public auction of a black PVD Monaco and the sale of an orange-dialed Autavia on our ChronoTrader forum, only the second of these that we have seen. It always amazes me that for a hobby that lives in the 1960s and 70s, we are always finding new watches and information to discuss and share.
So let’s spend the last few days of 2014 thinking back through the year, and recalling some highlights. Here are some prompts that might inspire our posts:
Of course, you can address as many of these topics as you like or just pick one favorite photo from the year. Here was my “Best of 2013” posting, which may jog some thoughts for you. The image below is from my most memorable lunch of the year, with a couple of fellow watch enthusiasts.
We will start on Saturday, January 3rd and run through Sunday, January 11. As always, we will be flexible with the timing, so you can also post a little early or late, at your convenience. You can also go off-topic, to show us your new house, a new member of your family, a favorite vacation spot, or a memorable video or album.
Whatever you post, please use the subject line "Best of 2014".
So get out your camera, dig through your watch box, search your hard-drive and share whatever made 2014 a memorable year for you.
