Here's an interesting [but somewhat odd] article that was on the cover of The Wall Street Journal, a couple of days ago.
Aviator Buffs Yearn for Watches, but Few Pilots Actually Use Them.
In many respects, this is a typical recap of how the pocket watch became the wrist watch, and the various things that need to be timed during a flight. The odd part of the article? The surprise that pilots do not actually use pilots watches for their intended purposes.
Perhaps next week we will see an article describing the fact that not too many Heuer Autavias, Rolex Daytonas and Omega Speedmasters are being used to time speed over a measured mile (or kilometer). Indeed, another great surprise of the watch world!!
Attention Mr. Michaels -- It's not about telling the time or using the complications. If we want tools, we'll go to the hardware store. It's about fashion / style / conspicuous consumption / decoration / affinity / luxury!!
