I got this watch in the last days of 2014 but definitely the highlight of the year for me. It is a quick and dirty photo with the iPad (surprisingly good macro camera) which doesn't do justice to the watch, which is beautiful. I love the 2444 reference, it is the true father of the Carrera, so I have tried to collect the main 2444 variations. I also love Heuer's watches for Abercrombie & Fitch, which I also have tried to collect a "few" of them. So this one was a big hole in both collections and probably the rarest 2444 and one of the rarest A&F variations. So I was really, really delighted to buy it, and I just love the watch "in the metal', it's even better than it looks in photos.
I know it is a watch forum, but a little OT is fun occasionally so here are some other top 2014s:
- best film: Interstellar (I was a bit ambivalent as it is a bit of poor man's 2001, but still I loved the scale and ambition)
- best new music: The band War on Drugs' new album "Lost in the Dream"; a new band but I urge anyone who loves classic rock to buy it, for me it is like Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty's sons formed a band with 2014 sensibilities...really amazing
- best concert: Prince's "guerilla" performance at the Roundhouse in London, played all his hits in a tiny venue and was not in his annoying diva/contrary phase
- best art exhibition: Amselm Kieffer at the RA; I didn't rate him till I saw the exhibition. Spectacular.
- best moment: Arsenal winning the FA Cup. Here's a pic I took at the victory parade (I was at the match as well):
..and as it is a watch forum, it's only fair to end with a wrist shot from the victory parade...
