Bracelet Dates are for Quarters

Just to be sure that we are all on the same page, the date marking in the GF bracelet indicates a quarter, followed by the year.

So in 1971, we would see 1/71, 2/71, 3/71 and 4/71. 4/71 is the fourth quarter of 1971, not April 1971.

When you refer to an early month in 1971, I wanted to be sure that you were interpreting the code properly.

Thanks,

Jeff

: Hello -

: I am trying to get a little better understanding of my Autavia
: 1163. I believe it is an early 4th version (pre-Viceroy
: promotional watch) as it seems to be manufactured well over a
: year before the promotion and has the MH bezel. It is 100%
: original and I purchased from the 1st owner. I do not think its
: ever been touched/serviced/polished, etc. The serial number is
: 223408. The model is a 1163 (no "V"). It has GF
: BOR bracelet with correct HLF end-links and a early month
: 1971 stamp date. Here is where I get confused, did 3rd
: version and 4th version production both happen in 1971? Is the
: serial number consistent with an Autavia produced in 1971? I
: based off the date on the bracelet, so I could be off a bit on
: the year of the watch. Looks like the case was an early one
: manufactured by Piquerez. I do not know if it is a Cal 11i or a
: Cal 12. (Can not open as I don't have the right tool).

: Welcome any feedback and/or info. I will be sending this to
: Chronodeco for an overhaul, so I'll find out about the movement
: then. Thanks - Jeff
