I think you refer to Stewart who did indeed fit a hulk insert to one he had lying around. He has also done a black bay type model.

I have one with a brown insert. It's all part of the fun of owning these great watches to experiment and see what they may have been like with modern methods and parts.

It can all be put back to normal when required
