Airforce Autavia vs Carrera

Congrats Shaun!

Argentinians used a logo, Jordanians an Arab script and Nato used their codified numbers. So what? No doubt about the originality in my mind.

Your Autavia must be a few years older than this Belgian AF Carrera from 1970 with serial 70-006. Haven't seen it in the metal yet, but can't wait.
I'll be picking it up from the deceased owner's family in Belgium sometime next week. Will post proper pictures and the owner's story then, and maybe I'll get to talk to the original owner of 70-227 as well.
So far I've found 8 samples, most of which listed on OTD.

: I believe that this is the earliest model of the Autavias used by
: the Argentinian Air Force.

: There was some initial discussion on the forum while it was still
: on eBay, where the absence of a number under the airforce emblem
: was questioned. I received the watch a couple of days ago and
: the number is present, albeit very feint. You can see it in one
: of the photos below.

: The watch is very charismatic "in the metal", where the
: honest wear and tear of an obviously well used life gives it
: charm and character rather than detracting from the watch. I
: believe this will be a favourite weekend beater - it is nice to
: have such a special model as a beater! I love the 3rd execution
: Autavias, I feel they are the perfect hybrid between a Autavia
: and a Carrera, epitomising the purist "less is more"
: designs brought in by Jack Heuer.

: I think there is little doubt the watch is original and shows a
: new, earlier story to the Argentinian Air Force Autavias. The
: crown had clearly been replaced but otherwise everything looks
: original to me.
