Hi Folks, Happy Holidays.
I have an early 80's Tag Heuer Spirotechnique diver on bracelet, ref. # 180.023, that has just returned from case and dial/hands restoration. The original 17 or 25 jewel ETA2824 movement was beyond repair and needed to be replaced. The watchmaker installed a modern, hacking, gilt-finished ETA2824-2 movement in its place and it runs very well. I do not have access to the old movement anymore.
My question for you this evening is does this
movement swap significantly detract from the overall value? If so, by how much?
I understand the importance of originality, but the old Tag movement was really dmaged and beyond repair.
Thanks and best regards,
Frank
