Hi Ross,
first of all, congratulations to your nice Carrera with the rare, french market only "FAB. SUISSE" printing on the dial.
For me the crown looks alright. To be sure, you'd have to measure the diameter and even count the "teeth", and I will gladly compare with mine. In fact all Heuer signed crowns on the Carrera's look a bit too small, when compared with the initially used unsigned crowns. I am not aware when Heuer began using signed instead of unsigned crowns. It is also likely that many of the original unsigned crowns have been exchanged later on during service. What a shame from today's point of view. Maybe one of the real experts can shed a light on this.
What actually puzzles me more than the crown are the second execution hands on your watch. I have never seen those hands with the black stripe on a Carrera Tachy. As far as I know, the Tachy hands should be shorter than the standard ones, in order to increase legibility, as can be seen here:
Regards,
Robert
: Pulled this one out of storage for a service- my watch guy says he
: thinks it is the incorrect crown for a Carrera Tachy? I compared
: mine to the Jeffs OTD ref photos and it is difficult to tell-
: but compared to my Carrera 12 Dato this one has a smaller
: diameter crown and a taller profile. Thoughts from the experts
: please?
