Hi All, I often spend my lunch hours drifting through your great forum but this is my first post.
I recently took the plunge for a 1970 grey subs 1133G with a co-signed Meister dial. I know that opinion is divided on whether a dial co-signed with the retailer's name adds value or not, but I can honestly say that I didn't buy with any expectations at all on that score - a 1133G, co-signed or not, has always been my idea of a grail watch and it's a definite keeper. I was much more interested in being sure that the watch was original, and Richard C's terrific website (and RC himself, many thanks) really helped with that. However.... does anyone know of any other co-signed Monacos ? I've searched the subject and found a few Carreras and Camaros but no Monacos, so where better to look for feedback than here.
The watch has a number etched into the rear edge of the outer case - B36925B. I did find a few old posts mentioning Meister including one of Arno's which mentioned that Heuers retailed by them had a 'C' followed by a number etched on the back so I'm not sure where my number fits in. The original case number between the lugs is 162958. I emailed Meister in case they had any old records but as you might imagine, they didn't respond. They probably thought - get a life.
Currently the watch is apart awaiting a new seal (there'd been no seal melt thankfully) and the starburst that had been polished away is about to be reinstated on the rear corners by Rocco at Watchworks Bristol (UK), but after that I'll just enjoy wearing it. But can anyone shed any light on whether other co-signed Monacos exist, Meister or otherwise ?
Many thanks
Chris.
