I Am Very Skeptical About This One

Darren has pointed out several questions about the dial and hands . . . and I agree with his observations / questions.

The movement and case-back both look wrong to me:

-- I have file photos of around 10 triple calendar moonphase chronographs and all of them from this period have a serial number on the movement, and also "Ed Heuer" on the bridge . . . yours has only the Heuer shield, an approach often employed by the folks producing fake watches.

-- The case-back (exterior) does not match that of any Heuer that I have ever seen . . . and we are talking about thousands of samples.

Bottom line -- we see a lot of variety among the triple calendar moonphase chronographs, with many different types of elements being used -- hands, markers, numerals, dial finishes, etc. Yours does not match up well with any of these elements.

My conclusion is that it's a fake.

: Hi Michael, 30+ views & nobody has responded - well i will
: start.
: Its a lovely looking piece you have but i have some reservations,
: especially as so many of these moonphase triple dates have been
: rebadged as Heuer in the past. I so hope i'm wrong as i dont
: want to cast mud at the charactor of your watch but there seems
: to be quite a number of inconsistancies from the rest of the
: Heuer range & i have not been able to find an example of
: your watch in the catalogs or reference photo area.
: Do you have any photos of the movement ?

: Things that dont seem consistant with Heuer triple dates /
: moonphase triple dates
: - the distinctive & appealing recessed columns on the dial have
: not been seen on any othe Heuer
: - the hands are not seen on other Heuer models - even the day of
: month one is different
: - your watch has Swiss Made printed at the bottom of the dial where
: other period Heuer's only had Switzerland
: - the font of your 1-31 day of the month calender are different to
: the known Heuer triple date type
: - the hour markers on the dial are not seen on any orher Heuer i'm
: aware of

: I would love to be wrong on all these counts & hail an amazing
: new Heuer discovery but until some of the forum members chime in
: to confirm this as a genuine model i will have to say i guess it
: to be re-badged as Heuer.

: Please lets hear opinions from other collectors

: - Darren
