Hello Jeff,
Very interesting watch and a real mixed bag or "Transitional" if you want, I am a bit confused as this is still another "Transitional" as the one covered by Paul Gavin and me some time ago. Here is a link to that posting:
http://chronocentric.com/forums/heuer/index.cgi?md=read;id=70345
Please note I am not discussing or questioning authenticity/originality, I just want to point out this is yet another "Transitional" Autavia as we have discussed/know untill now.
This one differs because the case is actually exactly the same as we know from the 1st and 2nd execution Autavia's, the only thing what does confuse me a little bit is the high serial number which would not fit in the range we expect to see for the 1st and 2nd execution series from both the ref.3646 and ref.2446. So with the wide bezel and bevelled lugs.
The "Transitional" we have discussed so far uses a completely different case then the standard 1st and 2nd executions from ref.2446 and 3646. (no bevelled lugs).
So, this watch appears to use just a "standard" case from the 1st/2nd executions...but with higher serial number.
All the best,
abel.
