Absolutely true. There are those who would excoriate me for being attracted to the DSotM; similar to your experience I tried one on and can't get it out of my mind!

Thing is, while I understand the need for sales numbers, I think it's a bit sad that TAG Heuer has resorted to imitating its higher-priced competition. The original Carrera was successful because it offered something few competitors had thought to - a simple, uncluttered dial. Leaving the chrono hash marks to the chapter ring, such a simple choice, created an all-time great design... This new Carrera is a double-whammy of a busy dial and a capitulation to a trend. Then again, I've never been a big fan of skeletonized dials anyway.

And, if I'm really picking nits, I think any "Carrera" with an external bezel ought to carry the Autavia name anyway ;)
