: All that new technology in the late 1960s/1970s - electronic,
: quartz and digital - brought with it new design, I was hoping
: smart watches would do so too. In the UK for some time we
: haven't been allowed new houses with current design and
: technology, any new estates going up are identikit 'designs' in
: the Victorian style but duller and cheaper, even houses built on
: vacant plots in towns and smaller cities usually end up looking
: like what's around them. Yes, sure, there are some exceptions,
: but we need new designs to go with new technology! In its time
: the 1163 wasn't a big change from the 2246 but the Monaco was.
: At the time drivers thought it was naff (probably why we don't
: see any old photos of them wearing them) but we look back on it
: now as a classic piece of design.
: Some Omegas from the 1960s/1970s to illustrate my point:
: I wish TAG had made a daring design rather than make it look like
: their current range.
At least your design classics still perform the function for which they were originally intended - technology based products don't historically have such a good track record.
I understand that TH will be offering an 'upgrade' to a traditional watch - good way to protect future sales; use the technology hook to introduce them to proper technology ;)
Not for me this one.
