The option with the lowest risk is a face to face transaction.
Generally the buyer faces a higher risk than the seller, cos typically the seller will only ship the watch upon receipt of funds.
So as a seller you should be able to provide some references for yourself, if asked.
If you're not keen on keeping the watch, best to just sell it now as-is rather than have to go through the hassle of restoring it then adding that cost to a subsequent sale.
The above statement is of course a huge generalisation, and is watch dependant.
My 2 cents.

: Greetings-
: I am new to this forum. I have always been a watch geek, and though
: I own quite a few watches, until recently none were of truly
: collectible value. Awhile back I inherited a Heuer Autavia GMT
: 2446C. I need some guidance!! I am interested in finding someone
: qualified who can restore the watch and also give me information
: about the value of the watch once it is restored. I have done
: some research on the watch and on restoration. I have contacted
: two people/entities who do such work. One is Abel Court in
: Belgium, and the other is Craig at Chronodeco. Both of these are
: booked well into the future and neither are taking new work on
: at this point. Can anyone point me to a restoration specialist
: that isn't booked? I know it is a longshot, but maybe there is
: someone in the Dallas/Fort Worth area? The watch is not
: currently working, and the hand and attaching screw for left
: subdial (near the 9 o'clock position) have become detached and
: are floating around and are visible inside the crystal. The
: watch has a black face and three white subdials. I do not have a
: bracelet for the watch. Based on my research, I believe the
: watch is circa 1968-1969.
: I have not yet decided whether to have the watch restored and keep
: it; have it restored and sell it; or just sell it as it
: currently is. I have received what I consider to be a fair offer
: for the watch as-is. I am not sure how to complete a sale of the
: watch as-is without either myself or the buyer being at risk.
: Perhaps someone who's been through this might be able to advise
: me how to do that? It also might be worth restoring to maximize
: my return if I decide to sell. I would need someone qualified to
: guide me with what is the best option. Any assistance would be
: greatly appreciated.
: Thanks,
