I am looking for honest advice here , I own this watch and would like to get some input
Earlier this year I bought this 2446c Autavia with the original GF bracelet , the watch (as I was told) has been sitting in a safe in South Africa since 1990 and come from a collector estate and this one was one of the last watches sold from that estate .
When I bought it I looked at the pics (as well all do) and even though something looked 'off' I still bought it
When I received it I closely examined it (being a Heuer noob) and realized it had a chapterring between the plexi and the dial
Further searching revealed .. right .. nothing , not a single other 2446c Autavia with a ring
But I quite like it ! and it doesnt seem to be a Carrera ring either , it misses the 5th second ticks and the shape/size is different (looks different ) as well
When I got my hands on 2 other Autavia's (both 2446c's) I started measuring , and the plexi is exactly the same height as 'normal' 2446c's
This autavia is scheduled for a service @ the Wizard from Or. in a few weeks from now
now my questions :
-: Should I ask the Wizard to perform regular service and keep the chapterring , or remove it and make it 'original' again ?
-: Does anyone now which (brand/type/style etc) watch this chapterring may have come from ? The quality of it does not seem to indicate 'home brew' to me
(and no, I am not trying to make this an extremely rare prototype , I am genuinely interested in the opinion here as I am having the watch serviced but I dont want a ring , that I like, be a big impact on value either)
