Perfectly Fine to Discuss These

With a watch that is correctly listed -- for example, with no typos in the title -- I see no issue in discussing the watch on this forum. I hope that the forum provides prospective bidders with good, reliable information.

Of course, there is some "cat and mouse" to this. Had I planned to snipe this Carrera with a $6,500 bid, perhaps I would be motivated to trash the watch on this forum. And if I were a best friend of the seller, I might be singing its praises. I believe that we all understand these conflicts / risks / etc.

These second execution Carreras (2447N or 2447S, for that matter) seem relatively rare. This is a good looking example, and now it will achieve the "Hodinkee Effect". It would be great if one of our readers brings it into the "family".

: Thanks for the comments.

: I agree with you on those watching. If this was some obscure watch
: that few cared about or a poor title, I'm not sure I would post
: and try to sneak away with it on my own :D , but my guess is
: that so many people are watching it that no harm would be done
: in asking everyone's opinion (apologies to anyone if I shouldn't
: have posted...I'm not sure if it is poor form to post questions
: about auctions since it might make things more public than some
: want?).

: I was thinking these later versions have a market price near where
: it is now like you mention (around $6K; it was a fair bit lower
: when I first looked...), so for me it is about maxed out,
: bummer.
: But will be interesting to see how much this goes above the (what I
: think is) market value!

: Thank you again Mark and D-
: Tim
