I have never sold anything by auction before but I think (if properly run) that informal auctions could be a good idea. I am still trying to decide what to do with my Heuer and an informal auction could be a way for me and other potential sellers to "test the market". Any auction depends heavily on the integrity and honesty of both vendors and buyers and this would be no different.
