I have been a huge F-1 fan all of my life. I love the LeMans prototypes...not a big NASCAR fan. Having said that there is nothing in the world like the Indy 500. It is:
The largest single day sporting event in the world (350,000 attendance this year)
The longest running race in a single venue in the history of motorsport (100 years)
The fastest race in the world with laps at 230mph/370kph.
Although all of the turns are right (like an oval) they are flatish and each turn is different. It is really more like a road race.
