Congratulations, John!!
In Response To: My Lucky Day... ()

Congratulations, John . . . amazing find!!

It is very difficult to find this version in such beautiful condition . . . invariably (or almost invariably, it seems), the hands get really rough looking, the lume gets very dark, and the whole look is not so appealing. But when they look fresh, like yours, then they look amazing (and these fresh ones also fetch a nice premium).

Enjoy this one -- as they say -- in the best of health!!

: Yesterday, while driving down the highway, I remembered a watch. I
: first saw this watch several years ago at friend's shop. He told
: me he had purchased it from a classmate of his when the guy died
: too young. His friend, the original owner was a coach at the
: local high school and a weekend sports car racer. My friend the
: shop owner told me he didn't want to sell the watch but to keep
: bugging him about it because...one day...

: Anyway, yesterday the watch came into my mind and I called him and
: made him an offer. He said thanks but no...He said it was a
: generous offer but he was not motivated. This morning he called
: at 7:30 and said he had re-considered and asked if I was still
: interested. I was, and I couldn't get started on the hour and a
: half drive to his place fast enough.

: The watch came with its original box, buckle, crown, hands, crystal
: (I think), pushers. It runs like a little sewing machine. I just
: have to pick out some new shoes and take it out for a stroll.

: Thanks to Jeff Stein for your sage advice and for the wonderful
: resource you have given us with this site.
