In response to some recent postings, from Gianluca and Sandra, I started writing a "State of the Hobby" type of message on a flight this afternoon . . . I didn't finish writing it, but will try to do so soon.
My bottom line -- technology is changing (away from forums and toward Facebook, Instagram and other social media); participants have always cycled in and out of the community; the community has never been stronger and the hobby more satisfying, at least for me. Yes, prices have been rising, and new collectors (and dealers) are entering the market . . . let's be honest -- would you really prefer declining prices and collectors (and dealers) exiting the hobby (or to be in a stagnant market)? And after 15 years, we finally have the folks at TAG Heuer appreciating / valuing the heritage. Lots of changes in the air right now; I see most of them as favorable.
Much more later, but that's my "elevator version".
Jeff
