But I have since visited a watch repair shop. Eventhough I have yet to see a picture of a Heuer watch online that matched mine exactly, the owner seemed confident that the watch is genuine. He also predicted I would have a difficult time finding a replacement for the missing button. He urged me strongly not to wear the watch until the button is replaced (dirt/moisture would ruin the movement). I sent an inquiry to the Tag Heuer Vintage Work Shop regarding the missing lower button.

I hope to find a replacement button and wear the watch some day, but in the meantime, I am interested to find out what I can about this particular watch. The inside of the watch case does have a 5 digit serial number, but there does not seem to be much information online regarding Heuer watches this old. My grandfather was a US Navigator in WWII, and from what I can find out online, this watch appears to be from the WWII era.

I am curious if anyone on this forum recognizes this watch face, or may have any other information regarding the watch. As I noted in the other forum post: "The images I see of similar Heuer watches all have the numbers 2,4,8,10 numbers on the watch face but are partially covered by the two smaller gauges on the watch face. I haven't seen a Heuer watch online that has small dots in place of the numbers 2,4,8,10 like my watch does."
