It's Friday -- But No Heuers Here

So it's Friday, of what has been an exciting week for the vintage Heuer community. We have seen every imaginable form of the Autavia, from the oldest (posted by Richard on Instagram) to the youngest (the Jack Heuer Limited Edition, to be released in November 2017). We also heard Jean-Claude Biver praise the vintage enthusiasts, for motivating the new Autavia.

Lately, I have been enjoying the hunt for the Heuers that are not Heuers, at least not if you limit your search to the dials. None of these four say "Heuer" on the dial, but all four were made by Heuer, likely in the 1930s.

The Aurotels have the script "Ed. Heuer" on the movements; we know about the history of Abercrombie and Heuer, although most of us have not traced it back into the 1930s (when this Reference 403 was made); and the Reference 351 might be the cleanest of all, with no brand name at all on the dial. The Abercrombie is the newest member of the family . . . blued hands and accents; Breguet hands and numerals; tachymeter and telemeter . . . all this, in a 32.5 millimeter case!!

The smaller Aerotel also has an interesting strap . . . one of the few vintage NATOs that I can recall seeing.

Wishing everyone an enjoyable and relaxing weekend . . . after this week, I believe that the community deserves it!!

Jeff
