Re: Bonhams

Hi Bernhard

At first, I thought so too. But maybe the others were really not as nice as lot 42 which maybe sold a hair width under market. Not everyone likes the transitional case of lot 43 - I certainly do not - and the wrong bracelet does not really bring any additional value to the watch with its tired bezel. Lot 123 seemed a bit better with the DBOR, however the 3-70 date-stamp on the bracelet should make you suspicious. Perhaps it was deliberate that no scan of the back was presented in the online catalogue. If you zoom into the images of lot 123 please look closely at the margins of the endlinks: what do you see? Well, turns out those are "HLB"-endlinks that have been "adapted" from a 2446 20mm lug-width case to a 2446 screw-back case with 19mm lug-width. Not nice! What do you want to do with such a bracelet? Go find the correct HL endlinks? Of find another set of HLBs and put the bracelet on a 2446C? What is a set of those going to cost you? An arm and a leg! Any which way you are set up for an arduous, loooong search unless you have those endlinks in your drawer from yesteryear.

So, in the end it was probably right to leave those 2 Rindts on the table and walk away. There are too many nicer ones around.

Cheers from Zurich

Richard
