Water damaged dials

As mentioned previously, I bought the Mareographe with the water damaged dial at the recent Bonhams auction (catalogue picture below).

Should I expect the dial to deteriorate further or should the dial condition be fairly stable now that the damage has been done?

I should add that I have no expectation that the dial can be restored/improved but it would be helpful to know if I should expect it to deteriorate further and if there is anything I can do to prevent that happening.

I appreciate that it may be difficult to generalise but any thoughts would be welcomed.

Many thanks

Andrew
