Just for fun, let's have a look at these three stopwatches . . . three generations of Heuer's 1/100 second stopwatch, that displays up to 3 minutes of elapsed time.
First generation -- with the "flat" Heuer shield; a design classic; and the two colors are black and white. Doesn't it look just perfect!!
Second generation -- same basic layout (and movement), but with some color added and the black anodized bezel and back (to reduce reflections).
Third generation -- the Century model, with the central minute register to improve legibility, and even more color.
As we consider the history of the Heuer brand, it seems fair to say that we would have never had the chronographs, without the deep history / market dominance of the stopwatches. And they are nice to look at, on their own, as beautiful little machines.
