It took me about 50 watches to buy my first gold one, which I think was a function of a couple things - 1) I knew I didn't want a plated, capped, or mixed (steel/gold) gold watch, and 2) I don't tend to wear dress watches very often, so it's difficult to find solid gold sports watches that don't look garish. But then...I did. The Movado M95 was my perfect entry into the world of gold given its size (35mm), beautiful design, and utility as both a dress watch and a chronograph. Additionally, this cost me roughly 40% of what a panda stainless steel M95 sells for, which made for a more palatable entry point into the brand and reference.

My immediate reaction once wearing it - the weight! My goodness, the weight! It's such an interesting feeling to see a 35mm chronograph on your watch and expect it to wear like all the others, but then to feel the heft and solidity of it. It's hard to describe unless you've worn one, and if you have, then it should make perfect sense.

Long story short, I still don't think I'm a "gold guy," but the M95 has definitely opened the door for similar watches in the future. I'll never own an all-gold Speedy, but I'll be paying much closer attention to the right references when they arise now.
