Need Help with Identifying *PIC*
I bought this watch for 280 dollar, is that expensive? $280 for a Time and Date Quartz is probably not cheap, but I don't know if that is necessarily a bad deal. On the other hand I don't know what a new TAG-Heuer Time-Date would go for these days, probably north of $300-500 though, so if one looks at it that way $280 may be very reasonable. Especially if it's a Heuer model instead of a a TAG-Heuer one. Depends on how one wishes to frame their perspective.
Is it bad when dial is redone? It's always best to have the original dial in great shape in the watch. Originality is always best. Next best is a NOS replacement dial. Next is a patina-ed (aged) original dial, then a perfect (or nigh-perfect) redial, then there is a bad (I mean TERRIBLE) original dial still in the watch, followed by bad replacement dial, bad redial.
For what it's worth the dial in the picture looks pretty good but it's hard to judge based on the one picture. Were it an original dial, it would be a better deal. You are sure it's a re-dial?
What year can it be from? 954.006 shows up in my 1983-1984 Heuer catalog: "Top Class
The reliability of a Heuer diving watch in models of distinguished design.
Water=resistant to 200 metres (660 Feet) Quartz, date, stainless steel case, double- protection screw-in crown, fixed bezel with 9 claw-shaped decorations. Mineral glas. Steel bracelet or specially water-proofed leather strap"
Please help me out, there aint no other forum were there are Tag Heuer specialist. What appears to be an identical watch, except for a TAG-Heuer dial and the Case Reference 950.006 for black dial/954.006 for white dial, shows up in my 1985/6 TAG-Heuer catalog. This catalog, interesingly enough, has a German price sheet tucked in it's pages and it has identical prices for each at 660dm for Bracelet and 635dm for Strap.
You have the sum total of my resources on this model of watch. Anything more would have to come from TAG or someone other than I.
Hope this helps.

P.S. I would have replied sooner but I've been very distracted this week with issues pertaining to my DSL connection. Sorry...
