On the other hand, I am a bit fed up of brands using any anniversary for marketing purposes. I mean: 55 years - OK, that's a lot, but is it a meaningful anniversary?
Just today there is another feature on Fratello Watches (one of my favourite newsletter for watches) where they present the various anniversary editions of the Speedmaster related to the 1969 moon landing.
The feature is very nice and shows some beautiful watches - though not all of them IMHO - but it well and duly highlights how these anniversary editions seem to come out any other year or so now for watches that are a staple of a brand's portfolio - or way too often to be really meaningful anyway.

I am all in for the "usual suspects" of important anniversaries - the ones people cherish for marriages for example: 10 years, 25 years, 50 years etc.
But 55? Usually that's something the spouses only celebrate - like 14 or 24 :-)!
If anniversary watches and corresponding dates are to be of any significance, brands should stick to the really relevant ones.
