This Daytona just went onto ebay.

Can any of you Heuer experts tell me more about it? The red hands look neat, but the black hands on the chronograph part look kind of strange. Is this one for real? What vintage?

I would appreciate any information.

I guess it depends on your definition of real... It does exist, the question is did it leave Heuer's care in that form.

Caseback analysis indicates that the caseback came from a Verona.

If we look at both the 1979 Catalog in English (Reference #2 right page) and the 1979 catalog in French (also Reference #2). We see that this is clearly not the proper caseback for this case or dial.

Which according to our charts should have a Calibre 11:

Which this one, does not... Dirty movement too...

If we look at the Daytona Tables... We see that we haven't run across any Brown dial Daytona's... The hands look very suspect. I suppose that they did originate on a Heuer, and perhaps even a Daytona (I don't know) but I doubt they did with each other and in those colors/condition...

I don't know where this one's been, but I am not sure I like it... And a Daytona is on my "someday" list...

What is it with Canadians and cobbling together old Heuer's... It's a bit like Austria West!
