To watch, yes boring. To follow with the timing screens and well-informed commentary -- very interesting. Because track position is the important thing at Monaco the tactics of "stop for new tyres, or not?" were great to follow. How did Gasly keep those hyper-softs going for so long? (Future champion there!) Ricciardo did what I call a "Jim Clark" [*] performance: drive around your problems, fake out the opposition and win.
You want overtaking? I've seen a suggestion I like for the Monaco GP -- give them an 1980's design Formula Ford each, maybe with a 200bhp BDA in the back. Mass production road tyres of course.
