You were definitely "present at the creation", a long time ago, and I was thinking of you yesterday, when someone showed me a beautiful Monaco, Ref 73663. I'm not sure who was buying and who was selling, or perhaps we both did both, but that watch reminded me of you.

There are so many puzzles in this hobby . . . we answer one question, and that triggers two or three more questions. For example, how soon did Heuer drop the "Chronomatic" name from the dial? How did the first owner of my watch (which I will call either Reference 1163 MH Mark 2 or "Heavy Red") buy this one in July 1969? We see the heavy red accents on the Chronomatics and my new watch, but why does the Chronomatic have the red chronograph second hand and my new watch has the white chronograph second hand? We have seen two samples with the Heavy Red accents (mine plus one on eBay) . . . how many watches were actually in this batch? Of course, puzzling over the serial number can also answer questions and raise questions.

So many questions . . . maybe tomorrow we will find more answers.
