Thanks, Shaun, for posting this information. Very interesting.
It would be great if you can either send me some high resolution photos, to post OnTheDash, or post some photos here. It's always good to have a sample that is known to be authentic, as a reference sample.
Thank in advance.
Jeff

: Fabrizio is correct, there do seem to be two font types. But I have
: seen both font types (thin & tall vs fat and squat) on IDF
: Autavias. The Phillips IDF Autavia and one I own have a the
: taller thin font. The one I have is direct from an Israeli
: ex-mil surplus dealer (not a watch dealer) so I believe is 100%
: correct.
: I must say though that the engraving on the back of the one coming
: up for auction doesn’t look 100% right. The Israeli Autavias
: all have a distinctive engraving style, where the engraving tool
: is rotating so you see spirals. On the auction Autavia it
: doesn’t look like that but maybe it is just the photo; no one
: should take a definitive view from one photo in one angle.
: Happy to post photos of the different font styles and my IDF
: Autavia if people are interested.
