The new Carrera by Fragment Design will be limited to 500 pieces, worldwide.
And about the price -- if the original price for a Hodinkee or Revolution limited edition of the two register Carrera / Skipper is around $6,000 [with Selita based movement], then why not a premium of $2,000 for the in-house Heuer 02 movement? The Heuer 02 is an in-house movement; three registers; chronometer grade. It is difficult to compare the supply / demand dynamics of 125 pieces from Hodinkee [which now sell in the after-market at 2X the original price] versus 500 pieces from Fragment Design, but I believe that there is some consistency to the pricing.
Another way of looking at it -- the Autavias powered by the Heuer 02 movement were originally priced at $5,000 (for the standard model) or $6,000 for the Limited Editions . . . these are 42 millimeter models, with the world complaining about the size. so I'll take a flyer on this 39 millimeter Carrera, with the $2,000 premium price. If it proves to be more "wearable", then I will be a satisfied customer.
